Getting Ready for the International Festival 2025!
We are collecting theme ideas for this year's International Festival. Examples of previous themes include "My Home, My Earth" "and Cultures of Color".
Please email ptointfestival@ash.nl with a short slogan by September 15th!
The International Festival committee will vote for the theme at the first meeting on October 1, in order to have sufficient time for planning the PTO's biggest event of the year to be held on April 12, 2025. Want to help? Join us on October 1st!
Spirit Wear Update
The spirit wear store at the main campus will be open on Tuesdays from 3:15-4:00 p.m. Watch next week’s Update for details on our grand opening of the mini spirit wear store at the ECC.
Online orders can be placed at the PTO SpiritWear website and picked up in-store. We have new markdowns on International Festival gear, polos, baby items, plus several other sale items.
Volunteers are needed to make sure we can open each week. The time commitment is low, you get your hands on new merch first, and training is provided. Reach out to us at spiritwear@ash.nl to help.

Several strikes loom for Wassenaar residents September 10th and 11th.
Strikes this week are scheduled to disrupt the morning rush hours. On Tuesday, September 10, 2024, public transport services in The Hague, Rotterdam, and Amsterdam are scheduled to go on strike. Services from carriers HTM, RET, and GVB have indicated they will take part in the strike from 04:00-08:00.
On Wednesday, September 11, 2024 regional transportation companies will strike. Arriva, Transdev, Keolis, EBS, Qbuzz, and NS will not run from 04.00-08.00. The strikes on both days will affect trams, busses, and trains. This includes busses running through Wassenaar. Residents can stay updated on public transport strikes by following sites such as 9292.nl.
Public transport services are not the only sectors striking. For more information check out Wassenaar Times
Open Monument Days, September 14th-15th.
During Open Monument Day thousands of historical buildings and sites (about 4,000) are open to the public free of charge. Besides opening their doors, many locations also organize on-site activities like exhibitions, musical performances and guided tours. This year’s theme is “Routes, networks and links”, which means lots of locks, forts and towers, but there’s also the lure of castles and gardens, such as Slot Haamstede, whose creaky doors will open just for one day. For more information, visit their website.
“Wassenaars 15,” a 15km and 7.5km race, October 13th, 2024
In it's 10th year, this fun race combines a sporty performance with a great party and charities, while running through the streets and forests of Wassenaar.
