The PTA Update

September 11, 2022

With this edition of "The Update" you will notice we have a new logo and new name - ASH PTA. This change is for legal and tax purposes but doesn't change anything about what we do or how we support our school and students.

Upcoming PTO Events

HALLOWEEN EVENTS

Pumpkin Sale!

Get into the spirit of the season with a pumpkin for your doorstep. The PTA takes all the hassle out of your Dutch pumpkin search, by selling them directly to you. Pumpkins will be available for sale through the online Spirit Wear store starting Mon., Sept. 12. Pumpkins can be entered into the jack-o-lantern contest at Trunk or Treat.

Trunk or Treat

Save the date - On Sat., Oct. 15 the PTA will be hosting a Halloween Trunk or Treat and jack-o-lantern contest. Sign-ups for families willing to decorate their cars and participate will begin on Wed., Sept. 14.

Community Events

Cub Scouts

If you have a girl or boy, K-5, now is the chance to give them an extra-memorable year. With BSA Cub Scout Pack 140, you and your children will go fishing and camping, participate in the pinewood derby, and learn countless life skills! Find out more here.

Girl Scouts

It’s not too late to join the USA Girl Scouts Overseas! Troops, serving girls K-12, normally meet two Fridays a month after school at ASH. Leaders pick up the girls after school to escort them to the meeting. We have lots of fun activities throughout the year including camping! Email girlscoutshague@gmail.com for more information. In particular, we are hoping to have more girls in K and grade 1 for our Daisy troop!

Tee Ball Rookie League with ABF

Tee-ball is a great way to introduce your 5- or 6-year-old to baseball in a no-pressure, friendly environment. Your little one will have weekly practice (but no games in the fall), and if they wish to continue, will have the chance to play against local teams in the spring. Practices will be held Fridays from 16:00-17:00 at the ABF field next to Main Campus. Sign up today at www.abfsport.nl.

Book Club

Are you interested in joining a new book club? An ASH mom is starting a new book club that will meet once a month, with the first meeting occurring before the end of September. If you are interested in joining, please reach out to Preethi at preethi.pavan@gmail.com.

What to Do on the Weekend?

It's apple season! A short drive from ASH you will find De Olemhorst Orchard. What better way to try your hand at authentic Dutch apple pie than by picking them yourself? This nearby orchard is open until Oct. 30 for self-picking of apples and pears. On the weekend they also have pony rides and face painting, but you need to go online to book a picking slot in advance. Picked fruit is charged by the kilo.
