Join us for a chat about where and how to do your weekly shopping, along with tips on finding products familiar to you and local products that you've got to try. Have you ever tried karnemelk, stamppot, or bitterballen? We will learn about all of the delicious Dutch foods and where to buy them. RSVP now

Sustainability Corner
A new feature for the PTO Update is the sustainability corner. This will be a place where we offer readers with sustainability tips and ideas.
The Amazon rainforest is the biggest one on Earth and it's quickly disappearing. Help protect its trees and biodiversity by trying to eat less meat (meat-free Mondays), plant a tree, join organizations that support indigenous groups fighting to save the rainforest, or use 100% recycled paper and toilet rolls sold with the FSC logo.

Community Events
Open Monument Day Sat. Sept. 9: Various monuments in Wassenaar are open from 11:00 - 16:00. These include windmill Windlust, the garden of the Baljuwhuis, Council House De Paauw, Bunkercomplex Rijksdorp, the Hertenhuisje and Farm Raaphorst. The day, organized by Rotary Club Wassenaar and Historical Association Oud Wassenaer, will open at 10:30 on the Evenementplein (corner of Langstraat/Achterweg/Van Hogendorpstraat). There will also be a special cycling route. More information can be found here.
Filmhuis Wassenaar Tues. Sept. 12 - It’s Barbie Night! This special event includes a welcome drink, a viewing of the newly released Barbie Movie, and a drink and snacks during intermission. The welcome drink begins at 19:30, and the film begins at 20:00. Movie is in English with Dutch subtitles. The event is €17.00 (library members receive a €1 discount.)
Dutch for Expats - Dutch absolute beginners (level 0 to A1-) - Thurs 10:00 - 12:00, starting Sept.14 Dutch beginners+ (level A1- to A1) (continuation of absolute beginners' course that ended in April) - Wed 10:00 - 12:00, starting Sept. 13.

KinderSpeelCafe: Looking for an indoor play option for kids 0-7? KinderSpeelCafe offers opportunities for sensory play, activities to help develop gross and fine motor skills, as well as help with cognitive development. They are open for playdates and parties or are just the place to go when you need to work from home but still have the kids. They also have a cafe for all your snacking needs.
