High School Music Event

On Wed. Dec. 6, the High School music department will celebrate the great talent of our young musicians. The evening will feature all high school ensembles (band, strings choir, and jazz band) showcasing their hard work throughout this semester. They invite you to join them at 19:00 in the cafeteria with a presentation by the jazz band, then the show will transition to the theater for the choir, strings, and band performances. As we dive into the world of music, we will experience and enjoy musical styles and genres from across the centuries and the globe. A little taste of everything and for everyone. International Festival

This year's theme is "My Home, My Earth" and the organizing committee is looking for logo ideas from school staff, students, and parents. Logos must reflect the theme and can be submitted as a rough sketch or in any picture format. Submissions are due to ptointfestival@ash.nl by Jan. 14, 2024. The International Festival Committee will vote, and the winning logo will be used in all event promotions and the designer will receive a prize with their logo printed on it.

The International Festival Committee is also looking for volunteers to fill roles big and small. To find out more about what help is needed, email ptointfestival@ash.nl. The next committee meeting is on Dec. 5, at 09:00.

Sustainability Corner

PVC Free Rain Boots and Gear - The long rainy days have arrived. Did you know many rain gear brands use PFC/PFAS or PVC? While PVC (polyvinyl chloride) can make clothing waterproof, it can also be harmful.

What can YOU do? Buy rain gear that is PFC/PFAS- or PVC-free. Choose natural rubber products and water-resistant materials. Here are some brands that fit the bill: Aigle,

Allbirds, Baxter Wood (vegan), Bergfreunde, Bergstein, Bisgaard, Druppies (you can regularly find them on sale at De Bosrand), Fjallraven, Frugi, Gray Label, Konges Slojd, Merry People (vegan), Native Shoes, Stella McCartney (vegan), and Will's Vegan Store (vegan).

The SustainASH group is hosting a clothing swap at ASH on Fri., Dec. 8, from 16:00 - 17:00. Please encourage your high schooler to participate by bringing in freshly washed, still in good condition, used clothing - that can be appreciated by someone else. Sportswear and shoes are welcome. They can drop off their clothing items in the box in the main reception area from Mon. - Wed. this week.

Community Events

Scouts Movie Night - Come to the Main Campus auditorium on Fri. Dec. 8, at 16:00, to join your friends to see The Mitchells vs The Machines. Entry fee is €3 (cash preferred) and snacks and drinks are also available to purchase. Please note that this is after school hours so young children will need to be supervised. See you there!
