Upcoming PTO Events

NOW: Online Holiday Bazaar

Don't leave our local small businesses out in the cold. We are very sad that the Covid situation forced us to cancel our on-campus Bazaar, but we still want to showcase the work of our incredible local entrepreneurs, many of whom are ASH parents. So head on over to our online Bazaar HERE and get all your holiday shopping done todday. The website will be up until January. Check it out right now!

Mon., Nov. 22, 9:30: VIRTUAL Monday Morning Networking "This Expat Life"

Our community is made of people who live, or have lived, away from their home country. For some, the Netherlands is their first overseas adventure. For others, it's just another pin on a lifelong map. But no matter our years of experience, we all share the common reality of living in a country that is foreign to us. The more you travel, the more you find that each country has its own quirks and unique ways of doing things; its special attractions, and also things that are difficult to get used to. As expats, we tend to be open-minded and adaptable, but most importantly, we "get by with a little help from our friends," as the Beatles so neatly put it. So brew yourself a cup of tea and coffee and snuggle up to your computer--our meetings are going virtual again, for the time being!--and join in a conversation about Expat Life. Listen to accrued wisdom, tips, and funny tales, and of course, contribute your own. See you on Google Meet tomorrow morning!

Mon., Nov. 29, 9:30: Monday Morning Networking "Public Safety"

Wassenaar feels like such a safe town, and it is, but we must also acknowledge the people keeping it safe for us and our children. This very special MMN event will feature guests from the Wassenaar Police Department to talk to you about home security, public regulations, and tips for keeping yourself and family safe every day. They will be happy to answer your questions, so jot them down ahead of time! This meeting will be virtual, so find the link HERE.

Thur., Dec. 2, 9:00 am: International Festival Planning Meeting

ASH's beloved International Festival is coming to you this year in person (fingers crossed) and we are so excited! The theme of the Festival this year is "Stronger Together" as we recognize that the true value of our school community lies in our diversity and our wide spectrum of international perspectives. Bring this Festival to life by representing your country--home or passport!--or volunteering to help organize and run the event. Attend this virtual meeting to get all the details and ideas for how to contribute.

Country representatives will set up a table and fill it with information, heritage items, games, art, and all sorts of cultural artifacts to share your country's individuality with the rest of ASH. You will also be able to make a gift basket to be raffled off to visitors. Please sign up today to host a table by clicking HERE.

Upcoming Community Events

Now through Wed., Nov. 24: Food Bank Collection

Grade 7 students are hosting a Food Drive to collection donations for The Hague Food Bank. This charity provides food to needy families in The Hague, Wassenaar, and surrounding areas. The most commonly needed items are: canned soups, canned beans, peas, corn, soy beans, oatmeal/cereal, canned fish, canned fruits and vegetables, coffee or tea, wheat pasta, brown rice, couscous, and cooking oils. Thank you!

Wed., Dec 1, 9:00 - 10:00: ASH Parent Book Club (third meeting)

The third installment of the wonderful, counselor-led book club will take place virtually at this link. Even if you missed the first two meetings, you can still participate. Simply buy and download the book TODAY, from Paagman.nl. You can easily catch up and join the discussion to hear expert advice about reducing stress in your children. Our counselors are helping our kids every day, and they have so much great advice, plus their own professional interpretation of this important book. Don't miss it!
