Upcoming PTO Events
Tue., Sept. 14: MMN Langstraat Field Trip and Lunch
Monday Morning Networking will take new Wassenaarians on a field trip down the Langstraat, the primary shopping street in town. You will visit a number of interesting shops and have a chance to chat with the owners. It's a great opportunity to pick up some treats--for the family, for yourself--while you're there! The group will meet at POPS cafe ( Langstraat 121, 2242 KL Wassenaar) at 9:30 and the tour lasts 1.5 to 2 hours. There are very few spots left, so register right away on the PTO events page: https://www.pto.ash.nl/events
MMN is also hosting a lunch immediately after the tour. You do NOT have to attend to tour to join us for lunch. Come for some grub and conversation at Zebedeus Cafe, just off the Langstraat (Achterweg 11, 2242 KS Wassenaar). We meet at 11:30, so don't forget to sign up before it fills up (separate from the tour sign-up): https://www.pto.ash.nl/events
Thur., Sept. 16: PTO Walk and Talk at Panbos
Refresh yourself with cool, green nature and much-needed adult conversation at this PTO-hosted stroll through the woods of Panbos National Forest. Only a five-minute drive or twenty-minute bike ride north of Wassenaar, this park has trees, ponds, dunes, and even a path to the beach. Dogs are welcome on the leash, and while strollers are permitted, they may be difficult to push up some of the sand dune paths--although it can make for a great arm workout! If you've been feeling too cautious to venture on your bicycle, traveling with the group is your perfect opportunity. Bike riders will meet at the ASH Main Campus bike shed at 9:00. There's no shame in driving, though! Simply meet at the park entrance at 9:30. There is a miniscule entrance fee of €2, and you can pay by pin card. Sign up quickly at https://www.pto.ash.nl/events
Mon., Sept. 20: MMN Luifelbaan Field Trip
Complete your induction into Wassenaar with a trip down the Luifelbaan, the second main shopping street in the village. The Monday Morning Networking team will take you to the butcher shop, the expat shop, and many other local favorites. There are still plenty of spots available, so sign up TODAY at https://www.pto.ash.nl/events!
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!!
The PTO can't host its many planned events without help from YOU! Do you like holidays? Do you like helping your school? Do you wish there were more fun events for the whole family? Volunteer to help make our plans a reality. ASH families are always coming and going, so this year our calendar is full of activities waiting for that helping hand. See which project suits your interest and email your information to Bonnie at ptosec@ash.nl
Monday Morning Networking: The Spring semester will offer a slew of new lectures and field trips. If you like sharing your experiences with others, this is the job for you.
High School Grade Level Coordinator: If you have highschoolers and know the frustration of feeling out of the loop, this might be the role for you. Help other parents know about PTO and community events, and help organize activities such as teacher appreciation. This doesn't require a lot of your time, just your willingness to share information.
Spiritwear Store: The shop that sells all of our ASH clothing and accessories could use a helping hand. Let us know if this is up your alley.
Halloween: We know this a favorite holiday for so many of you. Let's give our kids a true Halloween experience by organizing and running a Trunk or Treat, a pumpkin sale, and maybe even more. We need a committee chair and plenty of helpers, so don't hesitate to jump in.
Holiday Bazaar: What are the holidays without gifts? Pending Covid-restrictions, we hope to host an in-person event which brings local vendors to campus to sell their art and other goods. We will need a committee chair and helpers for this as well, so if you love the holiday season, come make it happen.
Your ideas: If there is something you would love to see the PTO do, maybe you can be the one to make that vision a reality. Email your ideas to in to start the process.
Community Events
Wed., Sept. 15: Tiny Tots Picnic and Play
