It's October, and that means it's time for Halloween! It's coming early this year, so be ready for our big TRUNK OR TREAT Event on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 15TH, FROM 17:00-19:00.
What is Trunk or Treat?
Trunk or Treat captures the spirit of American Halloween Trick-or-Treating in the safety of our campus parking lot. Parents and staff members like YOU sign up to decorate the open trunk (boot) of their car--see example ↑. "Car Families" will be provided with candy and non-candy treats to hand out to ASH-affiliated children, who will walk around in costume, stopping at each car. We still have space for more cars to sign up! If you sign up, your children get into the event for FREE.

Wristbands
We know your kids can't wait to get their costumes on and attend this fun event. Yes, even your TEENAGER will want to come with their friends and their last-minute costumes to snag some loot. To enter, all children (NOT ADULTS) need a wristband. They cost €5, and this is one way that the PTA raises money for ALL the events and programs that we run each year.
Buy your entry wristbands right now at the online Spirit Wear store. They will be delivered to the classroom of your oldest child in the week before Trunk or Treat. Each child who enters the event (with their wristband) also receives a VOTING TOKEN to vote for their favorite Jack-o-Lantern in our in-person PUMPKIN CONTEST.
Pumpkin Contest
That's right! You may remember virtual pumpkin contest in recent years. Now our PTA pumpkins have been sold, and families will be bringing their carved vegetables (or is it a fruit?) to Trunk or Treat where they will be displayed in our PUMPKIN PATCH. There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place pumpkins! Please arrive at 16:45 to register and place your carved pumpkin. Read the contest entry guidelines here.

Donations
The PTA is entirely self-funded. We thank ASH for all their amazing support of our projects, but the school is not sponsoring Trunk or Treat. This is a PTA program, supported by fundraising and staffed by VOLUNTEERS like YOU. We are helping out our Car Families by providing the candy and treats to hand out to all of the children. Please help our limited budget by donating candy or non-candy treats (stickers, small toys) for Trunk or Treat in one of these donation bins. You will find one at the entrance of the ECC, the Main School lobby, and the Upper Elementary. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THE DONATIONS WE HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED. WE COULD NOT HOST THIS EVENT WITHOUT YOU!!!!!!!
What Else is Happening at Trunk or Treat?
Teal Pumpkin Project
The Teal Pumpkin Project is a worldwide movement to create a safer, happier Halloween for all kids. We will provide signs for cars to post so families will know there are non-food treats available, such as glow sticks, stickers, tattoos or small toys. This simple act promotes inclusion for trick-or-treaters with food allergies or other conditions and offers alternatives to candy.
Kooky Spooky Games
While visiting Trunk or Treat, step out of the chill or possible rain and go inside the Upper Elementary Atrium where you will find a variety of Halloween-themed carnival games.
Test your skills at throwing, bowling, strategy, and much more! Lots of non-candy prizes will be up for grabs!
Join us for Dinner!
Van der Valkwill be selling PIZZA (cheese or salami), BURGERS ( veggie or original), Chicken NUGGETS, and FRIES.
POP'S American Diner will be selling PULLED PORK sandwiches and HOT DOGS.
ASH’s Cooking for a Cause will offer fun & spooky yummies at their BAKE SALE! (Located in the UE Atrium near the games.)
And throughout the event, listen to the fun and spooky music of lorem ipsum, the trendy new band made up of three of our very own high school students!
