About the Event
Information for newcomers and a refresher for others: Biking is a way of life, with an ever increasing number of bike paths and lanes for the Dutch: on average they own one or more bikes to go to school, work, or relax in the beautiful Dutch countryside. All that biking comes with some specific traffic rules for both cyclists and motorists. Our guest speaker, Justin Ruijgrok, from Rijschool Voorwaarts - a local Dutch driving instructor - will walk us through rules, regulations, road signs, and road safety for motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists. Do you know that cyclists, not motorists, have priority at roundabouts? That cyclists are allowed to bike in pairs? Or that the responsibility for accidents will usually fall to the motorist? Come and learn more fun essential facts for all road users. We will also have a brief overview of the extensive network of public transportation options in the Netherlands. Purchasing OV-Chipkaarts, adding funds to your card, scanning in and out of stations, and fare reductions will be covered.
