About the Event

Grounded in the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku, which literally means bating in the forest atmosphere with your senses,  is proven to restore both balance and health, and provide an outlet for the stresses of modern day life. What will our walk look like? Arriving at the starting place of the walk, we will take time for a brief introduction to this practice and what to expect on our mindful saunter at Clingendael. We will also take a moment to get know your companions for the walk. A Journey into Sensory Awareness

The first part of the walk is a gentle mindfulness meditation to help us fully arrive in the present moment and awaken our senses.  As the walk unfolds we come into a closer connection with our surroundings through a series of invitations that open the possibility for relationship with the world around us.

Tea and Closing

The walk comes to an end when we all come together to share a tea under the trees. This is a time to gather and share stories. Be Prepared: Dress comfortably for walking on natural terrains on a crisp, Dutch January morning. Feel free to bring a water bottle, but little else so you are unencumbered for your walk. Participants will be invited to silence and pocket their phones, so let folks know you will be unavailable for about 90 minutes.
