It CAN be easy being green—despite what Kermit the Frog says! The PTO's Friends of ASH/Sustainability committee is in the process of getting off the ground and wants to help ASH families understand that it only takes small eco-conscious steps at home , in school, and in everyday life to make a big difference in conservation of our planet. In partnership with the ASH Eco-Team, the PTO seeks to gather together parents who are interested in discussing sustainability ideas, exchanging environmentally friendly resources, and sharing that information in a way that's accessible to the hustle and bustle of modern family life. Joining the PTO Sustainability team also presents opportunities to help with the redesign of the ASH Community Garden and other recycling efforts, as well as keeping PTO events and activities on a responsible path. If you have a passion for the green life and sustainable, natural solutions that keep environmental health in mind, then consider becoming a part of the PTO Sustainability team. The first meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 9 a.m. (09:00), in the ASH Seminar Room (2.75a), above the main campus lobby.
One way you can already get on board with the PTO in adopting greener solutions—just in time for sustainable Sinterklaas and Christmas preparations—is by participating in the Recycle Sint Wassenaar event at the YMCA, organized by Groene Meent on Saturday, Nov. 23, 1-3:30 p.m. (13:00-15:30), at Duinrellweg 1. The idea is to swap toys in good condition for others to give as gifts, thus reducing waste and saving you time, money, and space at home. For all the details, visit recyclesint.org or check out the Groene Meent Facebook page.
